The port of departure was Antwerp, Belgium with place of origin being Switzerland. Arriving on the Lochinvar in the port of New York City on 25 Apr 1855. Departure from Antwerp on 14 Mar 1855.

Ship manifest for Bittaker (variants) arriving from Antwerp, Belgium in New York, New York, on 25 April 1855 also included the following. It is thought that these families are related but research thus far has failed to provide documentation as such.

Family 1: Johann BŁttiker (49), Anna Maria (wife, 26), Robert (son, 5), and Phillipe (son, 3). Further research shows that this family settled in Ohio before the 1860 census.

Family 2: Victor Boetticker (abt 1813), Maria Anna (abt 1827), Veronicka (abt 1839), Judith (abt 1843), Leo (abt 1845), Bertha (abt 1854)

Family 3: Johann (abt 1819), Maria Anna (abt 1809) **THIS FAMILY **

Research thus far reflects that Victor and his family settle in Kirkland, Oneida, New York by 1860 with a subsequent move to Jefferson, Linn, Missouri before the 1870 census year. It is presumed that Bertha has been placed with Victor as she is shown in the 1870 with Family 2.

    Notes
    • It is believed that the mother died prior to the 1860 census with the father being deceased prior to the 1870 census.

1860 census - Both Christine and Simon were living with their father and uncle Joseph and his daughter Allis. Both John and Joseph are widowers at the time.

1870 census - Christine is found living with a Peter and Johannah Smith in Chariton county. She is 12 years old. They are living next door to Andrew and Mary Monach who have children named James (age 2) and Johannah (age 3 months); possibly Joanna. Still searching for her brother Simon. The later two children are found in the 1880 census living with Irama Schmidt along with Christine's brother Simon. Their relationship is unknown although Mary Monach may be Christine and Simon's older sister Mary.

1880 census - Both Christine and Simon are found living with a cousin Irama Schmidt who was born in Switzerland. To date, the only known cousins are presumed to be the children of Joseph Bittaker. The implication is that there are other known family members living in the area which are unknown as of this writing.

1900 census - Simon is married to Theresa Hendricks (her second marriage) and has a step-son William Hendricks. Living in Triplett, Mo.
